Statement

“Photography is fundamentally subversive, not when it frightens, repulses or even stigmatises, but we it thinks”, Roland Barthes. A photograph needs to be narrative; it has the genius of its own that makes people think. The photograph conveys the internal cold to the audience and heats up the environment. It helps audiences’ mind to exercise and create stories. The photograph is universal and can result in knowledge, passes through the time or even hold it. Knowledge can be the outcome of this observation. This exhibition presents stunning works by prominent contemporary filmmakers to the world. Comparing their inspiring artworks to an ocean, these can be considered just a drop of it. These photographs narrate myriad stories and reveal the world along the window of imagination and illusion. “The invention of photography has divided the history into two parts.” Roland Barthes says in his Camera Lucida CAMA proudly invites you for observation and insight. On Friday, November 2, CAMA Foundation will celebrate their Los Angeles launch with two art events. The “Time Lapse Exhibition” and “Art Beyond the Canvas” both take place at The Container Yard in the DTLA Arts District. The events showcase Iranian art, film, photography, architecture, and humanitarian projects around the world. The exhibition will run for two weeks, closing on November 14. The opening reception, Friday at 8 pm, is free and open to the public. The Green Truck will be there serving tacos.
