Hossein Mahjoubi

Hossein Mahjoubi

Hossein Mahjoubi was born in Lahijan, Northern Iran, in 1930. He started painting when he was just a teenager and after that, he promoted by late master Mohammad Ali Mojtahedi and proposed for further schooling in Tehran. In 1959 he graduated from visual art university in the field of landscape architecture. Designing Saei Park in 1963, monitoring the implementation of construction of Mellat and Niavarn Parks are some examples of his unique artworks. He is one of the pioneers in Iran’s contemporary paintings and his works have a great value among artworks, as this generation of Iranian painters took a path that had not previously had a place in Iranian painting. He is one of the modern Iranian painters and his artworks are mostly created in natural style and the reason might be according to his birthplace and his memories of that. However, the attention and carefulness of the artist in nature and the way to refine the natural forms is so subtle in his works that it cannot be considered just a simple event or skill. He has carefully payed attention to the nature for years and he has been thinking for hours on the forms and colours of the foliage. His works are a refined look of nature, which shows his knowledge about environment. He knows the trees and their branches very well. It seems that the forms of nature are transformed in his mind with an unparalleled delicacy and become a unique form for his audience. Anyways, his artworks are known in Iran and abroad, and with a little attention we can realize that his artworks are so unique and different from others.
